Opens A Door.' Watching her young son act impulsively, Wald ponders the barrier 'adults
put up between the real and the imagined,' then tries to open up her own internal door."

- Star of the Opera House Lobby:
I wrote this piece in 1983 for a journalism class at New York University. At the time, Opera News
expressed interested in publishing it, but shortly afterwards, Louis moved to Canada, (temporarily, as it
turns out -- he missed the Met too much) so the story was pulled. Louis is gone now, but the echoes of his
'bark' and his delightful spirit still linger in the great hallway of the Metropolitan Opera.
